One of Vision Youth’s initiatives is #GetSwabbed, a stem cell drive to help those who have chronic blood diseases like leukemia, lymphoma and aplastic anemia. They target a person’s bone marrow, which is responsible for producing healthy stem cells -- young red and white blood cells that haven’t matured yet.
Stem cells are important as they replace old red and white blood cells that can’t function anymore. If all other treatments fail, a person must rely on stem cell transplants as a last resort.
Vision Youth will be at the Richmond Hill Summer Carnival on all three days to promote this cause as well as selling tickets for a VR experience that will be available at the summer carnival. They are $10 each and allow you to play in a virtual reality driving simulator or to play “snooker football” with your friends. Five dollars from each ticket sold will be going back to Vision Youth and back into the program. We encourage you to come and #GetSwabbed if you’re between 17 to 35 and to also take part in the fun games that we have going on at the Richmond Hill Summer Carnival.
