A Helping Hand (Standard First Aid CPRC)

                                                                            Bacala, Alexandra Rose Callanta

The weekend covered a very important aspect of Vision Youth Leadership Program with regard to safety. The Visioneers had 13 hours of training in first aid for emergencies when going through the more physical activities as well as with minor injuries.

The session was led by Jo-Anne and Abdul from St. John’s Ambulance who went through all the types of incidents and accidents first aiders can help with. The class was interactive and allowed all participants to try their hand at doing emergency scene management (ESM), giving cardiac pulmonary resuscitation (CPR), using an automatic external defibrillator (AED), bandaging wounds, and even more.

Towards the end of the session, Visioneers were quizzed on what they have learnt and everyone passed with flying colors! Now the youth are more equipped in handling dire situations.
